Public health leader and political outsider’s campaign for Congress recognized as among most the country’s most competitive
Portage, MI — Dr. Matt Longjohn, public health leader and candidate for Congress today announced that his campaign has been added to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s prestigious Red to Blue list. The addition of Longjohn’s campaign indicates that he is positioned to topple 32-year incumbent Congressman Fred Upton this November.
“From the beginning, this campaign has been about bringing a new generation of leadership to Congress. I’m proud that our grassroots campaign has received this distinction–the first time any campaign in Southwest Michigan has ever earned it. We could not have made it onto the national radar screen without the support of all our volunteers. Voters are looking for a representative who will do what’s right — get special interest money out of politics, expand health care coverage and protect people with pre-existing conditions, and preserve our water and Great Lakes”, said Longjohn
