Matt Longjohn, a doctor and nationally recognized public health leader, officially filed his candidacy for the Democratic primary in Michigan’s 6th Congressional District.
He submitted the most nominating petition signatures filed by any candidate.

Portage, MI – Dr. Matt Longjohn, a physician and the former National Health Officer for the YMCA, announced his campaign has filed 1700 petition signatures to put him on the August primary ballot.

“I am grateful for all the help this campaign received to allow us to be turning in 1700 signatures today. Voters from Saugatuck to Sturgis, and from Richland to New Buffalo, signed my nominating petitions because they believe I am the candidate who can defeat Fred Upton in November. According to the Secretary of State’s website, we are submitting the most signatures of anyone in this race. The results of our petition numbers show voters are looking for someone who can bring a ‘people-first’ and results-driven campaign to Washington, and they can look at my record and see I can get things done without playing D.C. money games or compromising on our shared values”, said Longjohn.
